The historic retailer Longho hosted the first stage of the Outdoor Lab Tour 2023/24 by Talenti where renowned designers tell the secrets of cutting-edge outdoor furniture through their experience.
Telling the thousand faces of outdoor design through the point of view and story of great contemporary designers. This and much more was the first stage of the Outdoor Lab Tour 2023/24, the educational moment between furniture and sustainability that enlivened the evening of 8 June in Palermo. A bath of crowds for a travelling master class promoted by Talenti, a brand of reference in the high-end outdoor furniture sector, which last week landed in the heart of the Sicilian capital in the evocative setting of Palazzo Pintacuda, the prestigious and evocative home of the historic Longho Design Concept Store showroom. Hundreds of people flocked to witness this event, which will be repeated elsewhere in the coming months, albeit with different protagonists and products.
“With this initiative,” confirms Edoardo Cameli, Commercial Director of Talenti, “we want to show architects the very high level that outdoor design can reach. Those present, who will also obtain training credits for their attendance, will not only witness a didactic moment with one of the most creative minds we have in Italy, but will also be able to touch the novelties in the 2024 catalogue, such as the magnificent Venice collection, as well as the sophisticated Salinas or the elegant George, Tribal and Scacco. The modules into which the lesson is divided allow them to analyse the different faces of outdoor furniture and to admire a historical location like this one, which has made and is making the history of architecture in Sicily and beyond, a historical partner of Talenti that we highly esteem and whose attention to the customer and design culture we greatly appreciate”.
Architect Michele Longo, founder of the Longho Design Concept Store, echoes him: “Our collaboration with Talenti Outdoor Living dates back to the birth of the company, of which we can proudly say that we were its first referents in Sicily. We have always believed in the potential of the company’s project and have been literally captivated by the great energy of its Sales Director, Edoardo Cameli. Today we believe that Talenti can be rightfully placed among the first Italian companies to express the excellence of Made in Italy, both in terms of design, production quality and, last but not least, technological research. This is why we strongly wanted this event: the right occasion to introduce the reality of Talenti to local designers and our customers, in a moment of conviviality, but also of cultural discussion and debate, enhanced by the presence of internationally renowned architects Roberto Palomba and Ludovica Serafini”.
Lecturer of honour at this first event, a name that certainly needs no introduction. Roberto Palomba captivated the audience of architects and professionals with a veritable Lectio Magistralis entitled “Palomba Serafini: The Outdoor Project”. Composed in four parts, the lecture included an introduction on Studio Palomba Serafini Associati to continue with a focus on architectural design, yacht design and, finally, product design focusing on the collaboration between the Studio and Talenti that, since 2018, has allowed the creation of collections that are already iconic.
The location
The Longho Design Concept Store was born out of the experience and passion of architect Michele Longo, a passionate lover of beauty and a historical name in the city’s furnishing sector who, always on the lookout for the best novelties and the most innovative solutions on the scene, enthusiastically welcomed Talenti’s initiative. Built in 1905 by engineer Carlo Pintacuda, on land belonging to the large estate owned by Prince Tomasi di Lampedusa. Palazzo Pintacuda, once the seat of the Faculty of Architecture, is a place that needs no introduction and that, after a restoration process, has recovered its original appearance and is projected towards the future in a perfect integration of past and present. Wonderful frescoes, columns and classical sculptures remind us how art and design are both the fruit of human genius.
