After the world debut at the recent Miami International Boat Show 2023, we will have to wait until the Cannes Yachting Festival in September to admire the new Aquila 42 yacht live. The proposal of the US brand Aquila Power Catamarans, marketed and serviced in Italy by fcyacht, a company belonging to the Free Charter group of Cagliari, leader in powerboat charter with a wide range of solutions from 8 to 24 metres, is thus enriched. Born out of the partnership between Sino Eagle Group and MarineMax, Aquila Power Catamarans offers a complete range of motor catamarans from 28′ to 70′ that are as exclusive in finish and construction as they are exuberant in performance.
Designed by the renowned French studio VPLP, the new Aquila 42 yacht offers, in a length of just under 13 metres, habitability unthinkable on monohull yachts under 50′. “But what further distinguishes the Aquila 42 yacht from its competitors,” stresses Carlo Orione, Managing Director of FC-Yacht, “is the design and the quality of the equipment and materials that bring it closer to high-end motoryachts. Everything has been designed to be elegant and at the same time comfortable, just think that the width is 6.40 metres, just one metre less than the Aquila 54, which is 12 feet longer”.
The profile of theAquila 42 yacht is well balanced despite the presence of the flying bridge. At 12.64 metres long by 6.40 metres wide, the Aquila 42 yacht offers remarkable liveability also thanks to the three layouts on offer: two, three or four cabins can be accommodated on the lower deck. The first solution features two large suites with a study area and large bathroom plus a ‘utility cabin’ in the bow, while the three-cabin version has a double berth in this area.
The motorisation is entrusted to a pair of Volvo Penta D4s of 230 hp each with, alternatively, the same engines in the 300 hp version; the transmission is a reliable axle line. In the common areas, the large, practically full-beam living area makes the most of the width of this catamaran. The galley is located aft, between the covered dinette and the open cockpit dinette; from here a convenient staircase leads to the flybridge with ample living space and the helm station.
“Two open dinettes on a 12.64 metre boat are a real rarity ,” notes Carlo Orione, ” ideal, for example, on windy days where dining on the fly is not advisable. I’m convinced that in the Mediterranean too the Aquila 42 yacht will meet with the appreciation it is already gaining in the States. It’s an excellent design, and then it enjoys all the prerogatives of the Aquila Power Catamarans models: quality of materials and workmanship to the highest standards, maniacal care in finishes and fittings, and then performance at sea of an absolute level.” aquilaboats.com
With Rent-to-Buy Aquila 42 yacht is a dream come true
If the initial investment, and the running costs, of buying a yacht are a brake for many potential owners, the Rent-to-Buy formula is designed precisely to overcome these hesitations. In practice, you pay an advance of 20-30% of the purchase price and commit to paying a monthly fee that entitles you to use the boat for twelve weeks a year with the possibility, after seven years, of becoming its full owner. During the months in which the boat is available it will be the responsibility of Free Charter, the company of which fcyacht is a part, to rent the boat so as to also meet the costs of mooring, maintenance and insurance. The objective is therefore twofold, not only to reduce the initial investment, but also to relieve the owner of all maintenance costs, while having the availability of his future boat for a reasonable period during the year.
